How to gather evidence for bribery cases?

I'm working on documenting evidence for a bribery case involving local officials. What's the best way to record conversations legally? Are there specific apps that timestamp and verify recordings?
I've been advised to use a voice recorder app, but I'm concerned about the legal admissibility of such recordings. Does anyone have experience with this?
Also, what other forms of evidence should I be collecting to strengthen my case?

Recording conversations without consent is legally complex in India. Under Section 65B of the Indian Evidence Act, electronic records can be admissible, but there are conditions. I recommend:
1. Use apps that provide metadata (time, date, location) 2. Have a witness present if possible 3. Maintain a written log of all interactions 4. Collect any paper trail (receipts, notes, etc.)

I successfully used the Nyay Doot app to record a bribery attempt. The timestamp and location features were crucial when I presented the evidence. Make sure you're in a state where single-party consent is sufficient for recordings.

Beyond recordings, I'd recommend filing RTI applications to get official documents that might reveal patterns or discrepancies. These can be powerful when combined with your recordings.
